Microsoft Visual Studio: You do not have sufficient permissions to save your profile

When users access the TeamPlain website the warning message "You do not have sufficient permissions to save your profile. Contact your system administrator." is displayed everywhere the user can modify their personal settings.

On the old TeamPlain forums I saw two similiar posts but no responses were given:

1) http://dev.devbiz.com/forums/post/2483.aspx

2) http://dev.devbiz.com/forums/post/2909.aspx

Your assistance is appreciated since this error is present on our production environment.

Thanks,

This problem occurs if the logged-in user doesn't have write permissions for the App_Data\Settings directory.

In fact, TeamPlain setup takes care of such permission issues, so I guess you've installed it manually.

The solution is to grant Full permissions on the App_Data\Settings directory for all TeamPlain users.

This happened to be the problem. We had copied our settings folder from a previous deployment.

Thanks for the response.
