Microsoft MS DOS/95/98/me: wrong date

  • When I had to install a new harddrive disk, the date for the first few days of use was 2005-not 2004. I did correct the date after I discovered this the hard way. When I needed to scan reg/restore on DOS, the only backups are the first few days that show 2005. No 2004 backup dates are ever shown here. Will I be stuck with the first few days of backups until 2005 is past? What it did was when I made a mistake and restored my back up, I got the backup that I had before I began to update and install software. So I had to re-install all the things and system updates that I did after the 2005 backups. I am running Win 98.

    1. This problem should correct itself within the next few days if you reboot your system on a daily basis, but there are some Windows programs (such as an old one called "Salamander") which will allow you to change the date on a file. You'll have to search Google for it; I haven't seen it in years, but it is easy to use, and probably still available somewhere, if you do some research.

Good luck; let us know if the system isn't saving files with the correct date.
