Microsoft Server: Fax modem device that works with W2K3 Fax service

  • I've gone through quite a few including certified USR Internals for Win 2003.
The best I've found yet is USR Courrier V.Everything Externals, but they
still don't work great (just OK). It appears that you need to buy a
Brooktrout Board -- seems awfully stupid that they don't tell you up front
that x,y, and z are suppored and actually work. Instead they tell you what
is certified but fail to mention that it doesn't work very well.

From my experience, I've not used anything that works as good as a real fax
machine, but it's my expectation that Brooktrout works. $425 or so for 2
lines at 14.4K and like $1400 for 2 lines at v.34 speeds. Seems a bit absurd
to spend so much, but I think that's the answer. I'm buying one and I'll
    post back with my results.

Brooktrout claims to have a 70% market share which leads me to believe there
is a reason why -- and the reason clearly isn't price.
